Moving

This past week has been one of the most hectic weeks of my life. We've just moved to our new apartment! As I type this we've unpacked almost all of the boxes and all of our big furniture is here. Amazingly, we've pretty much filled our new apartment with stuff from our old apartment even though the new one is almost twice the size.

Monday was the first day of the semester and so far I really like the classes I'm taking. For those of you not in the know I'm currently studying computer science in the University of Reykjavík. This semester I'll be studying design patterns, operating system concepts, some calculus and designing algorithms. All in all very interesting subjects. I think that the design patterns class will be the one I will get the most out of and will really serve me well in the future.

I've already read the first chapter of the textbook we will be using for the Design Patterns class, called Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture and so far I like it but we'll see how long that will last. Many of the textbooks I've read throughout the years have started off great and then vaned off in some obscure direction filled with arcane technical specification without any real meaningful answers. Lets hope that this one will not let me down.

For this semester I will be experimenting with some tools to help me with my studies. I will be using either the Zim Desktop Wiki for Linux or the NoteCase note taking application. I will also be trying out the Backpack online application from 37Signals. If anyone has any suggestion for other nice productivity applications (online or for Linux) feel free to list them in the comments.

I leave you with a picture of my new office!
